A century of “bearing burdens:” Brotherhood Mutual creates new nonprofit to strengthen pastors

FORT WAYNE, Ind., Aug. 25, 2017This September marks the 100-year anniversary of Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company, a leading insurer of America’s churches and ministries. In celebration of its landmark year, Brotherhood Mutual will donate $1 million dollars to launch Full Strength Network, a new nonprofit ministry serving pastors and their families.

Brotherhood700“We know that pastoral well-being is essential for successful ministry,” said Mark Robison, president and chairman of Brotherhood Mutual. “We realized that we could have a meaningful impact in that area by helping launch a support network where pastors can find care when they need it. Pastors face many unique stresses and a real risk of burn-out, so we wanted to do something that would not only support their physical well-being, but also their emotional, relational, and spiritual health.”

When Full Strength Network launches in September, it will offer an online platform and mobile application that will make it easy for Christian pastors to monitor their well-being and find strengthening resources. Some key features that the new organization will offer include:

  • Measures to help pastors gauge their health in the areas of spirituality, relationships, finances, emotional/mental condition, intellect and physical fitness
  • Connections with resources to assist in strengthening any of the above areas
  • Suggestions for creating  better self-awareness
  • Encouragement and advice from other pastors
  • Access to care through counseling, therapy, respite, and more

“Since Brotherhood Mutual’s founding, caring for others has been at the heart of the company’s identity,” Robison said. “Our commitment to serving America’s churches and other Christian ministries has not changed. We walk with ministries and their leaders, so they never have to face tough times alone.”

In addition to the company’s donation to Full Strength Network, Brotherhood Mutual also will celebrate its centennial year by hosting a special summit for the company’s agents and a private concert for employees, their families, and local ministry leaders. The concert will feature the Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning group, NEEDTOBREATHE.
