Joni and Friends Announces Executive Promotions as Longtime CFO and Chaplain Retires

Founder, President and Board vote unanimously for all three

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., Dec. 27, 2016Joni and Friends International Disability Center founder Joni Eareckson Tada and President Doug Mazza enthusiastically announce the promotions of three senior executives effective Jan. 1, as longtime Chaplain and CFO Billy Burnett retires. Burnett has been with Joni and Friends for 19 years, bringing experience from significant engineering and management positions in the aerospace industry. His passion for ministry and service took him many places through Joni and Friends, including Ghana, West Africa, where he oversaw the staffing of a center established to restore wheelchairs to meet the ongoing mobility needs of families affected by disability.

“Although we will miss his presence here at Joni and Friends, we congratulate Billy on his retirement and a life of Christian service that I know will continue in some new capacity,” Mazza said. “He has contributed so significantly to the ministry during his years of service here – in both the financial success and workplace environment – that his legacy of leadership will live on far beyond his tenure.”

Vice President Steve Bundy will assume Burnett’s spiritual duties in his new position as Senior Vice President, Integration and Ministry Chaplain.  Director of Human Resources, Cate Given, is being promoted to Vice President, Human Resources.

Each of these has served faithfully at Joni and Friends for several years, Pulido since 2011 as Coordinator of Volunteers, with her management skills quickly leading to her promotion to Manager, Field Services in 2012, and later to Director of Development. Having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Troy University and with previous experience as a business owner, Pulido’s ability in financial analysis and fiduciary oversite, departmental integration and strategic thinking, made her the unanimous choice as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Bundy has been with Joni and Friends since 2007 as he became a driving force behind the Christian Institute on SteveBundy_A141118_HR_resized_cutlineDisability, the organization’s policy and education institute. He is also a pastor, ordained in the Nazarene denomination, holding both a B.A. in Theology and an M.S. in Organizational Leadership. His compassion for all people, former experience as an international missionary and pastor on a church staff, and as a father to a son with disabilities – Caleb – will serve Bundy well in his new role as Chaplain.

Before coming to Joni and Friends in 2008, Given served as the Interim Director of the Conejo Valley Women’s Resource Center, Director of the Thousand Oaks Campus for Biola University and for six years as the Executive Director of Sarah’s House, a Christian non-profit in Simi Valley, California. She began at Joni and Friends as Human Resources Manager, and then Director, prior to her new appointment to the ranks of Vice President.  She holds a BS Degree in Organizational Leadership and has years of corporate human resource experience and training.
