Evangelical Pastor and Thought Leader Compels Christians to Model Jesus’ Gentleness to an Increasingly Outraged Society

Scott Sauls Releases Latest Book ‘A Gentle Answer’

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 5, 2020 - Studies show that Americans are angrier than ever before, and Christians are no exception. Compelled by the biblical vision for walking in love, well-known pastor and author Scott Sauls draws attention to Jesus’ counter-cultural teachings on gentleness in his latest book.

A Gentle Answer: Our ‘Secret Weapon’ in an Age of Us Against Them,” releasing from Thomas Nelson on June 2, is a timely message for anyone wondering how to engage within a divisive culture.

“For our generation, hate has been commodified and outrage has been turned into an asset,” wrote Sauls. “Instead of getting rid of all bitterness, rage and anger as Scripture urges us to do, we form entire communities around our irritations and hatreds. But Jesus gave us a resource that enables us to walk in the same gentle boldness that He exhibited.”

Sauls examines Jesus’ own gentle ways with a theologian’s thoroughness and shares stories and anecdotes to create a relevant guide that is as doctrinally sound as it is personal. The result is a groundbreaking compilation of wisdom that equips readers to have the mind of Christ and answer every kind of hostility with gentleness. At the end of each chapter, readers are given a series of questions to help them grow in self-awareness, affection for Jesus and the gentle way.

“Because Jesus offered a gentle answer instead of pouring out punishment and rejection for our offenses and sin, we can offer gentle answers to those who behave offensively and sinfully toward us,” wrote Sauls. “Because Jesus has covered all of our offenses, we can be among the least offensive and least offended people in the world. This is the way of a gentle answer.”
