Global Church Leader William F. Kumuyi Offers Prayer for President Trump’s 2nd Term at D.C. Inauguration Praise and Prayer Convocation

“We’re asking that Your grace will be with him through Your wisdom and Your power”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Pastor William F. Kumuyi, founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry based in Lagos, Nigeria, is among the thousands of prominent figures scheduled to attend tomorrow's inauguration of Donald Trump. While here, the pastor of the world’s third-largest church averaging 120,000 weekly attendance is participating in inauguration-related festivities to celebrate a return to religious freedom in America and support for other nations in combatting religious persecution.

At the Sunday afternoon Inauguration Praise and Prayer Convocation, held here at Greater New Hope Baptist Church and hosted by Jim Garlow’s Well Versed World ministry and Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, Kumuyi delivered a prayer challenge to the American church and its leaders to walk in holiness and righteousness as a precursor to renewal and revival:

“Almighty God. We thank You and bless Your name,” Kumuyi prayed. “What a great and glorious God you are. I want to thank You, Lord, for the church in America. You said, upon this rock, You would build Your church – not just for that generation but for every generation, and You say the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

“Lord, we come in preparation for the celebration of Donald Trump, the president tomorrow. We're asking Lord that You will grant him wisdom and You will grant the church the unity, the revival, the knowledge, the vision, the forthrightness to speak the truth to power. And we pray as You connect the church with the leader, that it will be a good unity, that You will help the President, and that the church will remain the church.

“Revive Your church, restore Your church and purge Your church that there will be the holiness and the righteousness You expect for Your church, and the church will have a meaningful ministry in the government, as well as for this nation, America.”

On the eve of the inauguration, the global Christian leader and evangelist also offered this prayer for the incoming president in a recent interview on SRN News:

“Almighty God. You chose to bring President-Elect Donald Trump to Your throne and to lead at this time. We're asking that your grace will be with him through Your wisdom and Your power. And we pray You will help him remain focused on all the things he’s brought out in his campaign of giving Christ the recognition and the honor that He deserves. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.”

During his visit, Kumuyi has met with Robert Pittenger, former representative of North Carolina's 9th Congressional District of Congress, and American church leaders like Turning Point USA Faith’s Senior Director Lucas Miles along with and media representatives.

William F. Kumuyi, Pastor of World’s 3rd Largest Church, to Attend President Trump’s Inauguration and Share Insights on the Global Shift of Christianity

Presence Emphasizes the Importance of Religious Freedom and Christian Unity at a Historic Moment

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 15, 2025 — As global leaders convene in Washington, D.C. for President Donald Trump’s second inauguration on Jan. 20, one of the world’s most influential Christian leaders, Rev. William F. Kumuyi, will be in attendance. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent and Founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) based in Lagos, Nigeria, is pastor of the third-largest church in the world renowned for his impactful Bible teaching and evangelistic ministry.

“President Trump’s stand for the gospel is not without recognition, not just by American Christians, but all Christians globally,” said Pastor Kumuyi. “During his first term in office, President Trump hosted the first ever meeting of foreign ministers focused solely on international religious freedom and, in his campaign, he promised to support Christian values and priorities.”

During his visit to the U.S., Kumuyi will engage with members of Congress, American church leaders and media representatives. He is available for interviews from Jan. 17- 27 to discuss topics, including:

  • The Global Shift of Christianity: Kumuyi can elaborate on findings from the Lausanne Movement that highlight the epicenter of Christianity moving from the Global North (Europe, North America) to the Global South (Africa, Asia, Latin America), where growth is both qualitative and quantitative.

  • Global Leadership for 2025: At the recent DCLM Global Leadership Strategy Congress, Kumuyi challenged nearly 20,000 church leaders from 120 countries to embrace 2025 as the “Year of Higher Ground.”

  • Faith in Practice: In a recent Op-ed for The Christian Post, Kumuyi called on American Christians to deepen their trust in God for daily concerns, urging, “Why is it that we can trust God for eternity but not for today?”

"This moment in history reminds us that faith transcends borders and unites believers worldwide," Kumuyi said. "As we gather in Washington, D.C., the global church stands together in prayer and purpose, advocating for faith-based dialogue to shape policies that uphold religious liberty and foster the growth of Christianity worldwide.”

Kumuyi is available for interviews via phone, Skype/Zoom, or in-studio in Washington, D.C., by prior arrangement, Jan. 17–27.
