‘I Am Second’ Releases Powerful Story of Joshua Broome’s Escape from the Porn Industry

Adult Film “Performer of the Year” Shares How He Defeated the Labels of His Past

PLANO, Texas, April 6, 2023 — In the new White Chair Film released today by global storytelling organization, I Am Second, digital evangelist, podcast host and speaker, Joshua Broome, vulnerably opens up about the events which led to his freedom following six dark years working in the adult entertainment industry.

Originally from South Carolina, Broome moved to Hollywood in his twenties to pursue an acting career. Struggling to make it, he reluctantly accepted a role in an X-rated film. The shame and humiliation he felt following the experience sent him on a downward spiral of self-loathing and hopelessness. Buying into the lie that he would forever be characterized by his decision, that first film turned into 1,000 more, solidifying his status as one of the most successful adult film stars in the world.

Broome obtained fame, wealth and traveled the world all to find out that none of those would fill the emptiness in his heart.  At the height of his success, he was awarded “Performer of the Year,” an esteemed accolade that he expected would bring him fulfillment.

“[Success] left me empty and broken and disappointed,” shared Broome. “It didn’t fix the pain that I had; it escalated the pain. It deepened the depression. I found myself in a place so deep and so dark that I was certain that I didn’t have a life ahead of me worth living.”

Battling haunting thoughts of suicide and emotional scars, Broome made a life-changing decision to abandon his adult film career, and the pseudonym which made him famous.

“It had been almost a year since I had heard my name. I didn’t exist.”

This sudden realization crushed him. He quit the business and began taking small steps to shed his past and find his former identity again. He also experienced a sweetly divine encounter that changed Broome’s life forever.

“Today I’m a passionate communicator of a message of restoration,” affirms Broome. “I am healed through the life-giving power found in Jesus and spent years replacing lies and labels with God’s truth. I’ve been married for six years, we have three sons, and I have devoted my life to those who feel like their life is over because of a circumstance or situation. It’s never too late to change the course of your life.”
