A. Larry Ross has more than 47 years of experience in mainstream and Christian public relations, providing senior strategic PR counsel at both agency and corporate levels to help individuals and organizations influence public opinion through the power of story.
Mr. Ross has diverse experience in all forms of promotion and communications with both for-profit and non-profit companies and associations, including extensive spokesperson training. He has developed national and international images for worldwide organizations, in some cases serving as primary corporate media representative. He has helped numerous groups conduct issues management, corporate positioning and crisis communications as well as coordinating media operations for regional, national and global events.
Following several years as field spokesman and media representative for the General Motors Corporation in the late 1970s, Mr. Ross has been involved with various public relations firms in New York, Philadelphia and Dallas. While in New York, Mr. Ross’ focus was the nation’s then second-largest savings bank for which he handled financial public relations, including media liaison with business press and investor relations.
After coordinating media positioning for Hall of Fame baseball great-turned spokesperson Joe DiMaggio, for 34 years beginning in 1981 Mr. Ross served as personal spokesperson for evangelist Billy Graham.
Newsweek magazine headlined Mr. Ross as “Point Man for God” and a New York Times Magazine profile feature quoted him as saying his job is “...to find the sweet spot where faith and culture intersect.” His work through A. Larry Ross Communications includes consultation and ongoing representation for many of the world’s most influential Christian leaders, churches ministries and non-profits, and national theatrical film, television and book releases.
Throughout his career spanning nearly five decades, Mr. Ross has represented clients addressing numerous political, economic and social issues and advancing the national conversation through non-partisan forums, conferences and events. He spearheaded media relations for the 2009 Saddleback Civil Forum on The Presidency with presumed Presidential Nominees Senator John McCain and then-Senator Barack Obama, which was attended by more than 530 media representatives and garnered worldwide coverage.
Mr. Ross has also established press operations for live events in most major U.S. cities and scores of foreign countries. Responsibilities included specialized media liaison for four global conferences and international satellite uplink events to live audiences in and covered by media from more than 185 countries and territories.
A graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois, Mr. Ross and his wife Autumn have three sons, three daughters-in-law, five grandchildren and live in Lewisville, Texas.
