Crisis Response Expert Available to Share How Churches can Help in Hurricane Recovery
United in Crisis Founder Daniel Geraci Helps Churches Form Crisis Response Church Networks to Prepare for Catastrophes
WHAT: In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and as catastrophes increase in frequency and intensity across the globe, United in Crisis, a nonprofit organization with more than 15 years of crisis response experience, can speak into how the church can respond to provide affected communities with tangible support, supplies and hope.
Suggestions for the immediate aftermath include:
Launch a crisis response church network in your community to walk with survivors and lead the long-term recovery process
Partner with other churches in your community to raise support and in-kind donations
Build Hygiene and Care Kits to engage church volunteers
Offer emotional and spiritual support
Be equipped in crisis response training and emphasize safety protocols
Understand it’s a marathon, not a sprint
Churches are called to be places of refuge in times of crisis. However, despite the best intentions, churches are at risk of becoming a “second disaster” in relief efforts if they are unprepared or uncoordinated. United in Crisis works with cities to implement a Crisis Response Church Network (CRCN) to equip and mobilize local churches to form a unified and trained response to crisis situations.
WHO: Daniel Geraci is the Founder and CEO of United in Crisis, a training organization focused on uniting and equipping churches around the globe to form local crisis response church networks that meet the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of survivors. Previously, as the Founder and Executive Director of the Austin Disaster Relief Network for fourteen years, Daniel led the effort to assist hundreds of thousands of disaster survivors, train over 20,000 volunteers, raise more than $22 million to help affected families, and help launch several church networks in the midst of crisis. He has provided assistance and training to churches and cities in Houston in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, in Moore, Okla., in the aftermath of an F5 tornado and in the Texas Hill Country following devastating floods in 2018 among others.
"Our leaders have worked on the ground in the aftermath of many large-scale and catastrophic crises, and what we’ve consistently seen is that churches are often the first to mobilize after a natural disaster but unfortunately, they are mobilizing independently as opposed to united with a plan in place. Through our training programs, we can equip churches to work together to make a big impact on the cities around them,” said founder Daniel Geraci. “Our vision is that no community should face disaster alone — local churches, when trained and equipped, can be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need and become relevant to their community."
WHEN & WHERE: Daniel is available for interviews anytime with prior arrangement via phone or skype/zoom, or in studio in Kansas City, Missouri.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: As catastrophes increase in frequency and intensity, the role of churches in crisis response becomes even more critical. United in Crisis offers a pathway for churches to engage with their communities on a deeper level, through the CRCN model to share the light of Christ in times of great need by first meeting the physical and emotional needs of those who have been impacted by a disaster. Through trained volunteers, organized networks and a heart for service, CRCNs will be positioned to make a significant impact across the nation.
