On the eve of the 20th Anniversary of America’s worst terrorist attack, “Where were you when you first heard the news on 9/11?” has become one of the formative questions for today’s generations.
On that fateful day, I was traveling in the Middle East with my then-13-year-old son, leading a group of journalists and pastors on a tour of biblical sites in Jordan.
While standing in the ancient ruins of the Decapolis city of Jerash, where Jesus once preached, I was notified by a U.S. reporter seeking client comment. Less than ten minutes after the initial attack, I learned that a plane had been kamikazed into The World Trade Center, and realized we were taking a group photo at 3:46 p.m. local time – the exact moment the first Tower was hit (shown).
