Best-Selling Author Sally Clarkson Releases “Help, I’m Drowning” on Sept. 14

New Book Equips Women With the Tools Needed to Conquer Life’s Storms

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., July 1, 2021 - During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of women were suddenly charged with pressing new responsibilities. Some were instantaneously becoming homeschool teachers, while also trying to work from home, and many were acting as caregivers to sick family members all while combating the loneliness that resulted from isolation. They became emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically exhausted. Recognizing their cries for help and their need for tools to cope, beloved author, speaker and podcast host Sally Clarkson wrote “Help, I’m Drowning: Weathering the Storms of Life with Grace and Hope,” which details her own weathered experiences and provides wisdom to readers navigating difficult seasons.

Set to release from Bethany House Publishers, on Sept. 14, 2021, “Help, I’m Drowning” shares Clarkson’s insights and battle-tested strategies for handling life’s difficulties. Through the book, Clarkson wants her readers to know that even amidst loneliness, and facing fear, rejection and heartbreak, that God is right beside them. He is longing to comfort them and sympathizes with their brokenness.

“It has taken me a lifetime to learn the truth about what it means to suffer in this world and yet live to see the grace of God,” Clarkson writes. “I want to come alongside others so they will not feel as lost or alone as I often have. I pray that this book will help give women a way to believe forward and the encouragement to keep taking one step at a time right where they are.”

Research shows that symptoms of depression and anxiety among women increased during the pandemic. Clarkson details that she received hundreds of messages sharing just how discouraged, lost and fearful people were while facing the current circumstance of the pandemic. This outreach from friends, family and followers inspired her to write “Help, I’m Drowning.”

“I had friends' children die by suicide, women whose husbands were acting violently and my own family battling loneliness,” Clarkson shares in the book. “I know that the stories of many all over the world were just as depleting, difficult and challenging. We all bore the impact of disappointed expectations and an uncontrollable future.”

“Help, I’m Drowning” is Clarkson’s 24th book, primarily written to help women become better armed and prepared with an expectation of life-storms. Ultimately, the book equips readers to expect and endure chaos and practice ways of staying strong so they can face those life-storms with hope and grace.

“To me it seems that God consistently holds a bigger purpose for those who follow Him,” said Clarkson. “Even through my own storms, I can see how God used them for a greater reason. I can’t wait to help other women discover what happens when you commit to walking through the storms with God.”
